On what day does the Bible imply that Jesus was born?

This is not original with me; I read it from someone, but I don’t recall who.  The Bible gives clues, facts, and general patterns of God to allow us to determine when Jesus was actually born.  It works like this:

Luke 1:5 says Zacharias, John the Baptist’s father, was of the “division of Abijah.”  That phrase was from 1 Chronicles 24:1 and 10. The word “divisions” is from the 1st verse.   Verse 3 says David himself divided the the priestly lots, for the times of their service in the Temple (which was the highest honor for any priest).   Verse 10 says the 8th division was for priest named Abijah and those under him.  Verse 18 says there were 24 divisions in total.

Thus, there were 2 divisions per month.  The 8th division would fall in the 4th month.  The Jewish religious calendar started on the  day of the first Passover, in the first month, and thereafter always occurred in March or April (it is not a fixed date).  Thus, Zacharias was in the Temple in July, sometime.

Elizabeth kept herself in seclusion until “her” 5th month, Luke 1:24, which was November.  Gabriel was sent to Mary in the “6th month”, Luke 1:26, late December; let’s say December 25th.  We know the “6th month” is referring to Elizabeth’s pregnancy because of Luke 1:36.

So Jesus, was “conceived”, likely December 25th, in the “bleak midwinter”, to bring the light of God into the World.  John was born March 25th, or so, likely on Passover.   Jesus was born September 25th, or so, which is Rosh Hashanah, which is also the day the rabbis believe the world was created.  In September the shepherds would likely have still had their flocks out in the fields at night.

Jesus fulfills all of the 6 major Old Testament Feasts of the Lord on their literal dates of celebration.  So, Jesus died on Passover; was raised on “First Fruits”; and the Holy Spirit was poured out on Pentecost (50 days later), the same day the Ten Commandments were given to Moses and the Israelites at Mt. Sinai (discussed in a future Blog being worked on now).   So, Jesus will fulfill the Fall Feasts of Rosh Hashanah, then Yom Kippur, then Booths, when He comes again, around September 25th, of some future year.  So, His second coming will likely be on the same day as His first coming to Bethlehem.

You can look all these verses up for yourself.   Have a Merry Christmas!
